Gillian Bennett took her own life at 11:00AM on August 18, 2014. The next day, Vancouver Sun journalist Denise Ryan wrote an article with video. Follow up articles appeared in many other media outlets, including a Global Television interview and a radio interview on CBC's The Current with Anna Maria Tremonti. On Jan 26, 2015, Global TV's "16 x 9" broadcast an episode about assisted suicide featuring some of Gillian Bennett's family members.

Gillian was successful in igniting a conversation about death and difficult end-of-life issues. Her family has received more than 1,000 emails. We wish to thank everyone for their participation in this conversation.
